THREE LOCAL PROJECTS WIN 2017 RESIDENTIAL DESIGN AWARDS

We’re finally back after an extended break at the end of 2017.   We’re looking forward to an exciting 2018 with new features, profiles and tours of the best projects in the region.

Some exciting news came out late last year as Architect Magazine released the Residential Design Awards for 2017 and of the 18 award winning projects, 2 were designed by el dorado [Kansas City] – The Shelton Marshall Residence and 3435 Main, and another award went to the Kansas State University Design+Make Studio (led by el dorado) for the Waldo Duplex.

It’s a powerful statement to the great design talent in Kansas City, and the Midwest, when almost one-fifth of the award-winning design projects are within a 5-mile radius of each other.  And it is especially exciting when one of those projects is being designed and built by students – it shows that the next wave of designers emerging from the Midwest will continue to push boundaries and keep bringing exceptional design to our region.  Congrats again to el dorado and KSU Design+Make and thanks for, once again, putting Kansas City and the Midwest at the forefront of design across the United States.

You can revisit the full project features on the Waldo Duplex and Shelton Marshall Residence, and take a look at 3435 Main for the first time at the links below.  And later this week look for more news on another national design award recently awarded to a Midwest design firm.
